Amidst a year of isolation, great human suffering, and ecological degradation, our group finds a way forward through our commitment to the interconnectivity of nature, humanity, and community. As individuals coming from diverse fields of study, we come together to share the ways in which we have each participated in different forms of conservation and community work and to highlight their interwoven nature. We will discuss a wide range of internships: working on school girl art at the Porter-Phelps-Huntington House Museum, learning veterinary skills at the Cape Wildlife Center, constructing a culturally significant native plant garden with the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, protecting native bird species through Citizen Science programs at the Latodami Nature Center, and studying the concept of neglect in literature and its relationship to tropical diseases at the University of Pittsburgh. We are excited to share these vital connections with you and hope you will join us!
