Mentorship Throughout Different Phases of Research

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Our panel will focus on how undergraduate researchers can contribute to various phases of research under supportive mentorship. Each member of our panel developed positive relationships with our respective mentors and supervisors, facilitating an encouraging lab environment. McKenna worked with the Family Relationships, Minority Health, and Affective Science Lab at UMass Amherst, helping to prepare and develop a pilot study. Olivia worked as an ERP (event-related potential) and electroencephalography lab student lab assistant alongside Dr. Jane Couperus of Mount Holyoke College. She was able to publish an academic poster on how Anxiety and Stress affect Pre-Attentive Processing measured by the MMN (mismatch negativity). Ruby cleaned and coded eye tracking data in the Binder Reading and Cognition Lab at Mount Holyoke. Kareena interned at a genomic research lab at Washington University in St. Louis where she worked on whole-genome and exome data analysis of Cerebral Palsy patients to find genetic links to the disease.
